2010 CHEK Conference~

this year one of the speakers at our Christian Home Educators of Kentucky (CHEK) was

Rand Paul! it was short but sweet, he spoke for about 15 min. and then took a few questions...

i was in the front row, about 10 feet from him, not awestruck, but intrigued...

he was asked about his stand on Parental Rights, i was encouraged that he said he would fight for all rights of the parents that were not expressly enumerated in the Constitution, but that it was a shame that we have gotten to this point in America! absolutely!

altho' him and his wife do not homeschool, he does agree that homeschoolers should be protected! he was also asked to give his Christian testimony and how old he thought the world was...he said he became a Christian when he was young, and he passed on the age of the earth...

i definitely consider myself a Creationist (to some degree), but i don't expect others to claim to know how old the earth is, because ultimately i don't think any human trully knows,

we can only estimate...

overall it was a good conference - i did volunteer to work the Registration table for 4 hours (i found out later, 2 volunteer hrs. = free one year membership, just another added benefit!)

i got to meet and see a lot of neat people and talk with some distant friends which was a blessing and an encouragement! the conference was considerably smaller than the one i had been to 2 years ago, where we were first introduced to Ken Ham, but they were saying that it was at least bigger than last year...CHEK seems to be going through some changes and growing pains, i will continue to keep them in my prayers, as this is definitely an organization that holds many benefits for the homeschooling community in Kentucky...
