here is a final update on the little baby bunnies...
we ended up keeping them for close to 2 months (July 21 - September 9) they were such a joy to play with, and they grew so FAST! they probably tripled in size while we had them...we Spoiled them with yogurt treats, timothy hay, an edible dome, carrot treats (which they really didn't care for, by the way) and sunflower seeds, their favorite! -

i think they quite enjoyed their visit with us {and MadHatter only got out of the "pen" once, and romped around my scrapbook studio/storage room - we caught him pretty quickly - but he could jump almost 2 1/2 feet!} we put some boxes in the hallway for them to play in and they seemed to have a lot of fun with that - hiding and running through them quickly! -until, of course, MadHatter got hurt, he cut a pretty big gash out of his right side on the cut corner of one of the little boxes, ugh! he was fine and the wound healed in a couple days, but needless to say, we got rid of the "huts" ... there were quite a few little adventures with these little babies, i'm glad we got to play with them as long as we did! i know s* is too!
when it was time to say goodbye, we were so surprised that the rough and tumble MadHatter didn't race outta there - he was after all our little dare devil! and Thumper just crouched behind him in the corner! it was sweet, loveable, shy little Sneakers that was the first brave one {should've known when she didn't flinch when i plucked the tick off her ear on Day #2!}
she was the first to 'brave the new world' {even tho' she hung around under the hose for a few hours, we think she just wanted to get away from the others for a change}! in fact, the boys didn't venture out until a full 30 hours later!!! we just couldn't believe it! - unfortunately, it didn't take another full day until we found MadHatter dead in the grass close to the garage door... it was such a sad sight! but we are certain that he definitely had a final frolic of epic proportions before he left us for good~
we've not seen Sneakers or Thumper since they were set free, but we see other older rabbits more often now and so we sprinkle the food and treats we had left over~

WOW! What an interesting adventure. I'm sure it will be a cherished memory for S*. What killed Madhatter?? You must solve the mystery and give us a report.

They really are adorable. We keep seeing this poster for Dutch Lop bunnies at the grocery story - I must remain strong.
